It’s one of many fun facts that ISP’s Lauren Ashman and MilliporeSigma’s Maite Nogales have to keep in mind as they develop hands-on science lessons that are used by volunteers all over the world. ISP Showcase elevates ambitious, equitable math teaching with district partners
There’s more than one path to the math! Math mastery is key to both academic and economic success, but disparities in education and career opportunities have created a national concern about how we are educating our students in the subject. Teachers, coaches and administrators from Mehlville, Ritenour, Maplewood Richmond Heights and University City joined ISP for an Improvement Showcase held at WashU. Using Our Resources Wisely, a fifth grade science unit developed by ISP’s mySci program has been recognized as a top-rated science unit and awarded the NGSS Design Badge. Since 2017, only four other units, including mySci’s From Sun to Food, have received this honor at grades 3-5.
It was simply DivINe! ISP was proud to join WashU colleagues and community partners April 28 for the William H. Danforth St. Louis Confluence Conference and Award Ceremony at Delmar DivINe. ISP Executive Director Vicki May and Associate Director of Strategic Initiatives Nikki Doughty were part of a distinguished panel for a breakout session In St. Louis, for St. Louis, with St. Louis in one room, while ISP’s research and evaluation team Abbey Lohr, Rachel Ruggirello and Maia Elkana led another session, Achieving Equity and Expanding Economic Advancement Through Teaching.
